DON'T MISS OUR UPCOMING EXHIBITION DURING THE QUEEN'S JUBILEE HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT BROCKS HILL CENTRE OADBY

This year the Oadby Society of Artists is pushing the boat out to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee at Brocks Hill Visitor Centre. The standard of work on display is always exceptional and ensures that this exhibition continues to set high standards throughout the county. This week the society celebrates its 45th year with their unique works of art.

Marguerite Armstrong shows deft use with the pallet knife giving us an elegant view of a stag in Bradgate park entitled Serenity.

By contrast Phil Long has painted a very detailed breakfast with fine brush strokes to give us an egg which is good enough to eat!

Christine Stevens has achieved a moody and atmospheric view of “whispering trees” using bold brush work and muted colours for a soft and peaceful feeling of tranquillity.

Anne Garrick provides a striking diversion with her view of the lighthouse at Spindrift with the evening light showing beautifully on the distant hills gently reflected in the foreground water and all balanced against the stark lighthouse.

The society maintains it strong tradition of producing original works only for this exhibition which has ensured that standards are always very high and this year is no exception. To celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee year the exhibition is open for longer which can only be good news for art lovers who are looking for something different.

The Oadby Society of Artists, in Leicestershire, was founded some 43 years ago by a group of mostly amateur, and some professional artists.

The OSA has two main areas of activity.

Firstly, there are monthly meetings (except June andAugust), mainly providing tuition in the form of demonstrations. These are open to full and associate members, and to visitors (for a small charge).

The Society’s showcase is its Annual Exhibition in early June, where full members have the opportunity to exhibit their work (not shown before in Leicestershire), with the potential for sales. The Society is fortunate in exhibiting at Brocks Hill Visitor Centre, Oadby, which is an excellent venue.

At present there are over 60 members (full exhibiting members and associate members); please come and visit us at one of our events.
